Baked Beans

Ingredients:
1 lb. small white beans, soaked in water over night
1 ham hock
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 Tbs. salt
1/2 cup chili sauce
1 medium onion, chopped
Water to cover

Preparation:
Place all ingredients in large pan. Put enough water in pan to cover ham hock and beans. Place in 275˚ oven and cook for at least 6 hours adding water or diluted tomato sauce to keep beans moist.

Serving Suggestion:
All you need is a spoon and some hearty French bread for a filling winter meal. These are great too at a summer barbecue.

Variation:
Add some spicy sausage for a little more gusto.

History:
Mother got this recipe from a neighbor.
